"This image is my overall favorite that was submitted out of thousands... It does remind me of a recent exhibition I attended by [Sebastião] Salgado and his Amazon pictures. It does have a very deep sublime beauty to it"...Rebecca McClelland, Photography Editor, New Statesman magazine, UK.
Having already distinguished himself in the local film industry as a lighting and camera technician since 1993, Francisco went on to earn a degree in photography and sculpture from the School of Visual Arts of Puerto Rico in 1995, further igniting his passion for photography. In 2004, he attended the GrisArt School of Photography in Barcelona, Spain, in order to expand his photographic skills. His diverse portfolio is a work in progress.
“My photographic vision is driven by a deep curiosity of our world and its people, the exciting prospect of witnessing small miracles in that ever-changing world, while discovering myself in the process. I mean to provoke as well as entice the spectator to reflect upon the culture of another country, and to share my own fascination of its people, surroundings, and the rhythm of their everyday life. In crossing physical and psychological boundaries into other cultures and languages, my intent is to search for pure and simple moments. Most of my images exist as a fragment of a cultural experience, a magical moment in which intimate moments and public spaces intertwine. I only hope that my images can inspire others and bring people closer together.”
“In my photography, as in my life, I strive to reflect the full range of humanity that I have been fortunate enough to observe and embrace”.
